Your Gift Does More Than Help, It Changes Lives.

Why Give?

Here’s what your donation makes possible:

Help students get the supplies they need to succeed

Give families furniture they otherwise couldn’t afford

Provide clothes for children and parents facing hardship

Keep usable goods out of landfills and put them to work

Offer comfort and stability during hard times

Support local families who are starting over or rebuilding

How This Works

  • Scenic landscape of mountains, a lake, and green rolling hills

    Who do we give to?

We serve families, parents, children, and individuals in our local community who are facing financial hardship or rebuilding their lives. Many are referred to us through word of mouth, community connections, or schools and churches that know their situations firsthand.

  • Scenic view of snow-capped mountains with rolling green hills and a modern building in the foreground during daytime.

What do we do with the donations?

Clothing and household goods go directly to families who need them.

Furniture is delivered to families without beds, chairs, or essentials.

School supplies and backpacks are given to students before each school year.

Monetary donations help us buy high-need items, pay for storage or moving costs, and support local drop-off and delivery logistics.

  • Modern building with wooden exterior walls and large glass window, set in a mountainous landscape with hills and rocky peaks in the background, and surrounded by yellowish shrubs in the foreground.

    How do we do this?

We sort all donated items with care, then partner with local volunteers and community leaders to distribute directly to families in need no middlemen. Items are delivered through organized drop-offs or pickup events, depending on the family’s situation.

Monetary donations are tracked carefully and only used to fill in gaps for example, buying diapers, gas for deliveries, or supplies we didn’t receive enough of.

 FAQs

  • By saving these resources, we are not only preventing useful items from going to waste, but creating opportunities for a better future for many families and individuals.

  • What makes Alivio unique is our focus on saving essential (simple) resources, and channeling them to those who have little or no access to such resources. While other organizations do provide resources and relief, being in the right environment and having an opportunity to obtain them is crucial.

By visiting families and partnering with different organizations and individuals, we are able to identify those who, without any intervention, would have no access or opportunity to obtain essential resources. Where these resources are often overlooked, they can be directed where they will be valued, and will help create a stable living and an opportunity for a better future.

  • “Actions Speak Louder Than Words.” Your monetary or gift-in kind provides the physical relief that others need. If you are not able to donate, please consider sharing our mission. Letting others know about us is essential for sustained and lasting impact.

  • Your monetary donation will help us primarily with logistic and operation expenses to deliver essential items to families and individuals in need. While your monetary donations are crucial to carrying out our mission, Alivio’s primary goal is resourcefulness. Saving essential items from going to waste, and delivering them to families and individuals where these items are scarce. If you have any essential items, whether gently used or new, that you no longer need, please consider donating them to families who would not be able to obtain them otherwise. The only requirement is that the items are usable and in working condition. These items can include:

Clothing, shoe ware, blankets, baby items, essential appliances (gas stoves, refrigerators), essential furniture (mattresses, breakfast tables, etc.), school materials, and medical equipment.

  • Item donations, or gifts-in kind, are organized and matched with individuals who require them the most. While most items are generalized and distributed to all of our identified populations, some items may be particularly useful for certain families or individuals, for example baby clothing or a used wheelchair. By collaborating with a network of organizations and individuals, we are able to identify a family’s or individual’s most urgent need. Providing relief allows these families and individuals an opportunity to focus on other important aspects that will help them grow on their path to stability.

Monetary donations are primarily used to pay logistic expenses, such as fuel, to transport the donated items to their destination. A grass roots approach to Alivio’s organization allows us to avoid major expenses such as storage fees, and building operation expenses. A small percentage of monetary donations therefore is needed to cover office, marketing and communication costs that are essential for carrying out our mission, such as this website.

  • We deliver the donated items to families ourselves, and because we also collaborate with other nonprofits in delivering donated items to families, we require a personal signature along with a photo or video from the recipient as evidence. We are not only interested in making sure that donations reach those that need them, but we provide an annual report to the state as well as monthly updates to you, the donors!

  • We currently are not a 501c3 organization. However, we have filed form 1023 with the IRS, and we are awaiting a response. We will notify the public of the outcome as soon as we know.

  • A socioeconomic status form is filled, and we perform an interview and a house visit to confirm that the individuals we help do have a strong need for essential items. Based on the interview, we are able to select for the items that are mostly needed by the individual or family.
