Our Team
We bring different perspectives to the table, but we’re united by a love for purposeful work, thoughtful design, and real connection.
Jaquelin Ruiz
My name is Jaqueline Ruiz Covarrubias. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I value compassion and empathy in my personal life as well as in my career. I am passionate about community work because I have seen its impact as a volunteer and in my line of work. As the president of the board of directors for Alivio, my role is to manage, organize, and facilitate the inner workings of the organization as well as ensure that our mission is being carried out effectively. My interest in this organization stems from my social work lens, which helps me understand the lack of material resources available to the Central Arkansas community.
President
Lezly Luna
Hi, I’m Lezly! I’m originally from Chiapas, Mexico, and I helped build Alivio with a heart to serve others in need. I have a B.S. in Computer Science and handle all the tech and digital side of the nonprofit. I love helping however I can, and I’m passionate about using my skills to make a difference.
Vice- President
Secretary Gabriela Ramirez
My name is Gabby Ramirez. I am currently studying Biology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After graduation, I plan to continue my education and eventually work in healthcare. I am passionate about serving in underserved areas, which is one of the reasons I joined the team for Alivio. I enjoy my role as secretary of Alivio, where I take meeting minutes, help plan and coordinate projects and facilitate communication between team members. In addition, I volunteer at several nonprofit clinics and I've gained a deeper understanding after seeing the differences these services have on communities across Arkansas. This hands-on experience has deepened my commitment to making a difference in medicine and outside of it . In my free time when I’m not in school and volunteering, I enjoy going on outdoor runs and reading.
TreasurerMartin Morales
Hi, my name is Martin Morales. I study Chemistry and Clinical Biology in a pre-medical track. Besides my interest in working in the laboratory, my main pastimes are spending time with family, and learning about philosophy and theology from one of the greatest minds ever, Thomas Aquinas.
As treasurer, I’m responsible for maintaining accurate accounts of receipts and disbursements for Alivio, and providing financial reports to the board. As director, I help plan, direct and evaluate Alivio's goals along with the other co-directors to make sure we carry out our mission of helping those who don’t have access to basic resources. Alivio's mission has long been an interest of mine. My motivation for being part of this team is seeing the hardships that families undergo due to a lack of access to basic human necessities, while the abundance of simple, yet valuable resources are needlessly going to waste throughout the world. There is so much that can be done to bridge these two spectrums, and my hope is that you can help provide that relief. Thank you for caring.
Your support fuels progress and brings hope where it's needed most.
